Key points about this episode include the super hot new pairing of Damon and Enzo, Denzo. Oh so much angst and sublimated manly love there in their eyes, I'm just dying to find out what will happen between those two. I also love the fact that it was pretty much Denzo that caused the Delena breakup. That's something I never saw coming.
Delena has also been a huge reason I watch the show, but it's becoming excruciatingly clear that Stelena will be endgame. I'm sure the writers will find a way to keep Delena fans somewhat happy as well, but, ultimately, Caroline Dries and Julie Plec have made statements that definitely point to a Stelena endgame.
I'm also foreseeing that Katherine's spirit will be transferred to Elena's body, since it's no accident that Nadia gave Matt the traveler's dagger. It is also no accident that the writers are trying to brainwash the audience into forgiving Katherine, so I'm sure it's all leading to Elena and Katherine fusing into one and ending up with boring good old boy Stefan.
I used to be really passionate about this show, but by now I'm so let down by it that I'm like, meh. The writers have cried wolf too many times. I really can't make myself care anymore. Whatever. For a while there, I was planning on writing stories for Vampire Diaries Kindle Worlds, but in the end I decided TVD is not worth my energy or devotion.
After five seasons of watching TVD, I've come to the conclusion that, if I want a better story, I need to read and reread Robert McKee's legendary book Story and I have to create my own characters and my own story, because other people's stories are never going to satisfy me.
Nowadays, I watch The Vampire Diaries with a sense of detachment and I'm barely even able to suspend disbelief anymore. I watch more out of morbid curiosity and out of a desire to find the irony in it all. I also like to poke fun at the absurdity of the show and come up with memes, but that's about it.
I'll always love Damon Salvatore, but the devotion is all gone.
